Soda Ash Light
Soda Ash Light, also known as light sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃), is a high-purity, fine white powder form of sodium carbonate. It features lower bulk density and higher porosity compared to dense soda ash, enabling faster dissolution, better flowability, and easier mixing in various processes.
Produced primarily via the ammonia-soda (Solvay) process in China, it is an essential industrial raw material widely used in:
• Detergent and soap production (as a builder and pH adjuster)
• Chemical manufacturing
• Water softening and treatment
• Textile processing
• Paper and pulp industry
• Other applications requiring rapid solubility
Compliant with China National Standard GB/T 210-2022 (Sodium carbonate for industrial use), the light grade is defined under general industrial class (Class II) by its physical characteristics, while sharing core chemical purity requirements with dense soda ash.
Key Specifications (GB/T 210-2022 – Superior Grade, typical for Soda Ash Light)
• Total Alkalinity (as Na₂CO₃, dry basis): ≥ 99.2%
• Total Alkalinity (as Na₂O): ≥ 58.1%
• Sodium Chloride (NaCl, dry basis): ≤ 0.70%
• Iron (as Fe, dry basis): ≤ 0.004% (40 ppm)
• Water Insoluble Matter: ≤ 0.04%
• Loss on Ignition (at 270–300°C): ≤ 0.8%
• Bulk Density (loose): 0.45–0.60 g/cm³
• Appearance: White fine powder, no visible impurities
This grade ensures excellent performance in fast-dissolving applications. For detailed test methods, packaging (typically 25–50 kg bags or jumbo bags), or custom requirements, contact our sales team.
